New Delhi: A physically-challenged youth has been accused of cheating, sedating and keeping a 23-year-old Delhi University student captive inside his house and raping her. The incident took place in Gokulpuri police station limits. The incident came to light on May 23 when the girl managed to evade from his captivity and approached the police.
The injured businessman, identified as Ravi, 30, a resident of Rohini, runs a business of dry fruits in Kahri Baoli.

Trouble appears to be brewing within the BJP over who gets to tap the capital’s slums for political gain. The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) Friday sent a notice to Hindu College principal Anju Srivastava, asking her to keep the girls and boys hostel fee the same. The issue dates back to last year, when women students had protested against high fees and allegedly discriminatory rules in a new hostel built for women. Following protests, admission was stalled in the hostel, which is yet to become operational.
Ahead of the onset of monsoon season in the capital, the secretary of the Public Works Department (PWD) has sought details of all drains that have been desilted and cleaned so far. "Every official has to submit desilting plans for drains in their areas by June 15. If there is some delay due to any reason, the report should be submitted by June 30. No extension will be given. I will visit the areas and if anyone is found furnishing wrong data, they will be held accountable," PWD secretary Ashwani Kumar said.
