Delhi Assembly Session: Alka Lamba leads AAP charge against EVMs, blasts use of old machines in MCD polls

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Alka Lamba on Tuesday questioned the Election Commission on why it was not accepting the demands of demonstrating how EVMs can be tampered with. Lamba, leading the AAP charge on the EVM tampering issue, questioned as to why 5,000 of these machines were brought from Rajasthan for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections. She questioned EC’s intention behind using old VVPATs despite the availability of new ones too. "There were 13,000 polling booths in Delhi and we were told that the state election commission had 15,000 EVMs. When there were 2,000 more EVMs than what was required, why were 5,000 EVMs brought from Rajasthan," Lamba asked.
