Pradyuman Murder Case: Bus Conductor Ashok Kumar Gets Bail

Gurugram, Nov 21: The bus conductor, Ashok Kumar, who was initially arrested for allegedly murdering Ryan International student, Pradyuman Thakur, has been granted bail by Gurugram district court. TV reports said that he might be released on Tuesday evening.

Haryana police had arrested the bus conductor after 7-year-old Thakur was found outside a school toilet with his throat slit. The police had said that Ashok Kumar, who worked as a bus conductor, killed the boy after he resisted his attempts of a sexual assault. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation, which took over the investigation from Gurugram police, debunked the theory, saying a Class 11 student had killed the boy, not Ashok Kumar.

The CBI had examined the CCTV footage of the day of crime– September 8– and alleged that a Class 11 student, who was known to the victim, allegedly committed the crime to get the exams postponed. The agency had claimed that the accused was not good at studies, and that he admitted to committing the crime. CBI’s claims were later refuted by the boy’s father, alleging that the agency coerced the accused to admit to the crime he never committed.
