Fire breaks out at Beaumonde Towers in south Mumbai, Deepika Padukone among flat owners

A fire broke out in a high-rise building in south Mumbai on Wednesday afternoon. No casualties are reported.

The fire broke out on the 33rd floor of Beaumonde Towers, a residential complex in Prabhadevi.

Around 90 residents were evacuated from the building in which Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone owns an apartment.

Deepika was not inside the building when the blaze started, according to fire department officials.

‘Our staff and fire brigade is on the spot for assistance. They are trying their best to douse the fire and provide necessary help to people there,’ Mumbai Police posted on Twitter.

According to officials, the fire was seen around 2:10pm on the uppermost floors of the building. Soon, thick black clouds of smoke were billowing out.

Six fire engines and five water tankers are at the spot.

This is the third major fire to have broken out in Mumbai in the past week.
