Reliance Jio to offer 1.1TB data at 100Mbps high-speed internet: Here’s how to avail it

Reliance Jio now has plans to offer fibre to the home (FTTH) broadband service with over 1.1TB of free data at speeds of 100 mbps in select markets in the country. The commercial services are said to roll out in the second half of this year.

A source in the know of the development told The Hindu, “The initial FTTH plan includes 100 gigabytes (GB) of free data at 100 mbps speed; once the data limited is exhausted, the customers can do top-up of 40 GB of free data 25 times in a month, effectively meaning 1,100 GB of free data a month.”

The JioFiber connection can be availed by paying an interest free refundable security deposit of Rs 4,500 added the report. The company will install the Jio router, which can be also used as a set-top box when the company launches internet protocol television (IPTV) services.

According to previous reports, Reliance Jio is reportedly testing JioFiber in 10 cities. On Twitter, JioCare had previously confirmed that the service will be available in six cities, including Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara at the time of launch.

The FTTSH-based JioFiber services will also come with bundled JioMedia share device, smart set top box, routers and Power Line Communication (PLC) plugs. Alongside the high-speed internet service, JioFiber is also expected to give a major push to IoT (Internet of Things) in the country.

Recently, Reliance Jio Infocomm has now introduced Jio interact, an AI-based brand engagement platform.

The company mentioned in a statement, “The first of many services to be launched on this platform is the Live Video Call that features India’s favourite celebrities. To kick-start, Jio has on-boarded none other than Bollywood’s biggest star, Amitabh Bachchan, who will promote his upcoming comedy-drama film ‘102 Not Out’ in the most innovative way.”

Bachchan will promote his upcoming comedy-drama film 102 Not Out’ on the platform. Users can ask questions related to his upcoming film and the Bachchan’s bot will reply to their queries, according to the statement.
