New Delhi (21/11/2022): On the 31st of October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhhai Patel, the entire nation celebrated National Unity Day. Sardar Vallabhhai Patel National Award has been initiated to facilitate prominent citizens of India and world over for their contribution towards the society.
Dr.Ashma Begum, a prominent social worker from Assam, is the only lady from the northeastern part of India to win the award. She recieved the prestigious National Award for her widespread contribution in sports ,politics , academic and social work.
During the grave COVID-19 situatin when there was non one to look after the welfare of stray animals, Dr Ashma single handedly organised food, water and shelter for the poor animals. With her great leadership skills she ensured that the process was carried out without breaking any government regulations.
Dr Ashma is also the chairperson of the Baseball Association of Assam. She regularly conducts workshops and events to progress the sport in her territory. As a keen advocate of physical fitness she has revolutionised the way youngsters look at healthy living philosophy.
At the award ceremony Sri Harsh vardhan, Health Minister and Chairman of exceutive board WHO and Hon’ble Member of parliament presented the award to Dr Begum.
