New Delhi 25 January 2022: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has greeted the nation on the eve of Republic Day. In his message, Birla said:

In India, democracy has existed as a part of our thinking and as a way of life. With the adoption of the Constitution on 26 January 1950, we made this ancient way of life the basis of our progress and development.

Speaking on the journey of democracy in India, Birla said that in this journey, the nation has progressed steadily with the spirit of unity and harmony. This has been the biggest contributions of our Constitution; which has stood the test of time even after 7 decades. Even today, the hopes and aspirations of 135 crore Indians are being fulfilled through our Constitution. Today, we are conscious not only of our rights but also of our duties towards the nation. India is not only the largest and oldest but also the most vibrant and strong democracy in the world with wider participation of the people. Today, when the nation is celebrating ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, our people are inspiring us to keep striving for a bright future for the nation and humanity.

On this occasion, Birla further said, “Today is a festival for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the national goals and resolutions. Let us take a pledge that through our actions, our collective efforts and our contribution, we shall make our democracy more powerful and recommit ourselves to the service of the nation. Jai Hind.”
