On Sunday, Indian Medical Association, East Delhi Branch orgainzed a virtual Investiture Ceremony for its newly elected president, Dr. Gautam Singh. Dr. Singh has replaced Dr. Sunil Sighal as the new president of IMA-EDB.
Dr Gladbin Tyagi and Dr Mamta Thakur have received the charge of Vice-Presidents.
Past Presidents, IMA EDB executives and stalwarts like Dr G.S. Gerewal, Dr Parveen Bhanot, Dr Harish Gupta, Dr B. B. Wadhwa, Dr Ashwani Goyal, Dr Ajay Bedi, Dr Arvind Narayan and about 200 members joined the program over zoom. During the ceremony, Dr Gautam Singh came with a vision to work for both “the society” at large and for “the Medical fraternity”.
The IMA EDB is the most vibrant, and the largest branch of the Indian Medical Association. It has over 8,000 members and covers a large area of Delhi, mainly IP Extention, Preet Vihar, Krishna Nagar, Geeta Colony, Vishwas Nagar, Vikas Marg, Anand Vihar, Mandawli, Sahadra, upto Karawal Nagar. IMA-EDB is well known for its scientific and medical educational programs, cultural activities and community services. IMA EDB has always been in the forefront for academic activities in the country.
This branch has been led by some very eminent leaders such as Dr Harshvardhan, late Dr Ashok Wallia, Dr Harish Gupta (who is currently the only elected National Medical Council member from Delhi), along with many esteemed leaders of the IMA and MCI.
Dr Gautam Singh in his presidential address, highlighted his agenda and said – “We want to support our government in achieving vaccination for all under the program ‘Dekho Koi Choot Na Jaye’, and to continue some of the excellent programs of the past like ‘Mask Lagao Corona Bhagao’, ‘Safe Motherhood Program’, ‘Children and Adolescents health programs’, ‘preventive measures of communicable diseases’ to name a few.
He also said that there is a great deal of work that needs to be done for the doctor’s community. He stressed on the fact that there needs to be better awareness of the law amongst the doctors.
He requested all members present during the program to get rid of the day to day stress by concentrating on fitness programmes like yoga, meditation, creative and philanthropic works for the welfare of the society and fraternity
