Shimla, Dec 16 (PTI) Intense cold conditions led to the freezing of water bodies and drinking water taps in parts of Himachal Pradesh where the minimum temperatures were recorded 12 to 17 degrees below the freezing point.
Normal life in high-altitude tribal areas and other high mountain ranges was hit badly.
All natural sources of water such as lakes, springs, rivulets and tributaries of major snow-fed rivers have frozen.
The discharge of water in major rivers has reduced to 25 per cent.
Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti and Kalpa in tribal Kinnaur district had a low of minus 8.7 and minus 3 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office has warned of cold wave and occurrence of ground frost in lower hills tomorrow and dry weather in the region up to December 22.
