#NCERT Textbooks Available Online From August 9

New Delhi, Aug 5: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will soon be launching a portal that would allow students and parents to order NCERT books online. Come August 9, you will now be able to place your orders directly with the body and get them home delivered to your address. From August 9, the parents do not have to buy expensive books from private publishers, often due to non-availability of the NCERT books. The portal itself will be tracking deliver and online payment facilities.

As per the sources, the NCERT is also looking at options to make NCERT books available on Flipkart and Amazon, to streamline the process. “Talks are on and a final decision will be taken soon,” a source was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times. The educational body had first reported the online availability of the books on the NCERT portal from June 11.

“The portal will be launched on August 9 and schools as well as individuals will be able to place order for books online and it will be delivered to them,” NCERT director Hrushikesh Senapathy told HT.

According to the reports, the schools can place their orders and pay later for the ordered books. The schools will have the option of getting their books delivered through authorised vendors. They can later collect their books from authorised centres. “We are hoping that schools will give us the estimate of the number of books that are required for next year so that they are available much before time,” said a senior HRD official.

The schools will be given a month’s time to upload their requirement of books. Sources said approximately 42.5 million books are used by CBSE affiliated schools. The NCERT portal will help the body assess the total number of books it needs to publish.
