New Delhi, Oct 31: The National Anomaly Committee (NAC), which was formed to resolve all matters related to the anomalies in the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission‘s recommendations, was expected to hold a key meeting in this month regarding hike in minimum pay. Though the NAC is yet to submit its report on minimum pay hike, it has been asked to keep several issues in mind before suggesting raise beyond the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission or 7th CPC.
The NAC has been asked to keep central government employees happy while suggesting a hike in minimum pay, recommended by the 7th Pay Commission and approved by the Cabinet, said a report. The government has also asked the NAC to take a decision that will not cause job loss. The NAC has been advised to also keep in mind what is affordable to the government while proposing a hike in minimum pay beyond the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.
The NAC meeting which was scheduled for October was postponed. If media reports are to be believed, the meeting is likely to take place only after the elections in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are complete. The result of Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat will be declared on December 18.
The NAC may suggest hiking minimum pay to Rs 21,000 from Rs 18,000. Fitment factor will be raised to 3.00 times from the existing 2.57 times. The Cabinet is likely to take up the pay hike over the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission for the central government employees by the end of January.
Meanwhile, the central government employees reiterated their demand of higher minimum pay with fitment factor 3.68. The employees welcomed the proposal of raising minimum pay beyond the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission but asked to hike fitment factor as well.
The 7th Pay Commission raised minimum pay from Rs 7,000 to Rs 18,000 per month and fitment factor to 2.57 times, which was approved by the Cabinet on June 28 last year. However, the central government employees expressed dissatisfaction and have been demanding to raise minimum pay from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000 and fitment factor 3.68 times from 2.57 times.
