New Delhi, Sept 15: The government on Friday said it is planning to link Aadhaar card with driving licence in the country. Union Minister for Law and Justice and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said the government will soon link Aadhaar cards with driving license. The UID number, popularly known as Aadhaar, was introduced to end fake or multiple identities.
“We linked PAN card to Aadhaar to stop money laundering. We are now planning to link Driving Licence to Aadhaar. I have had a word with Nitin Gadkari regarding this,” said Ravi Shankar Prasad at Digital Haryana Summit 2017. Nitin Gadkari holds the portfolio of Road Transport and Highways Ministry. “So Digital identity confirms physical identity with the help of Digital technology,” Prasad added.
