A Kashmir bound goods truck, Yesterday afternoon, caught fire in the centre of Jawahar Tunnel which was coming from Punjab region.
A Beacon official while confirming the incident said that the fire was detected by one of the CCTV cameras installed inside the tunnel, after which Beacon’s rescue team deployed at Jawahar tunnel was dispatched instantly inside the tunnel.
The team first took the passengers, who were traveling behind this truck inside the tunnel, to a safer location while other personnel extinguished the fire.
The prompt action by the Beacon personnel averted a major incident as a diesel tanker was also behind this truck and no one was injured in this incident, the official added.
