Gujarat: Priest of Swaminarayan Temple Attacked Day Before Polls, Blames Congress

New Delhi, December 8: Merely a day before voting in Gujarat, the head priest of Swaminarayan Sect, Swami Bhaktiprasad was attacked by two unidentified assailants in Kotda village on Thursday night. The priest was reportedly campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirti Patel near Visavdar area in Junagadh district of the poll-bound state when the incident took place.

He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Junagadh and his condition is stated to be stable now. The priest has alleged that the attack was carried by Opposition workers as the car of miscreants with number plate GJ 1 A 9666 has Congress party’s scarf tied on the front.
