New Delhi, Nov 8: Delhi University’s St Stephen’s, Hindu and Sri Venkateswara colleges have featured in government’s list for 2018 national rankings for colleges and universities. Many popular colleges including All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) have applied for the first time for inclusion in the list. A total of 4,734 institutes have applied for the rankings.
The list also features School of Planning and Architecture’s campuses in Delhi, Bhopal, and Vijayawada, a report said. The top 100 medical colleges to apply for the 2018 national rankings for colleges and universities are Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMC), Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. The result of the rankings will be announced in April 2018.
Academics dean at AIIMS said, “We applied this year as we feel it is good to evaluate ourselves from time to time. We might think we are number one but there might be scope for improvement in certain areas.” “We want more institutes to apply as it will give greater credibility to the exercise. Also, this will allow stakeholders to find out how each institute fared,” a senior official at Delhi University said.
