Heavy Rains Lash #Mumbai, Local Train Services Affected on Central Line

Mumbai, Sept 19: Heavy rains and thundershowers occurred once again in Mumbai on Tuesday afternoon, causing water-logging and slowing down traffic movement in many parts of the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of downpour in Mumbai and the coastal Konkan region in the three days from Sunday. Local train services on Central and Western line are running little behind the scheduled time, however, services were operational till Bandra after a tree fell on an overhead wire between Andheri and Vile Parle. The incessant rains have started causing water-logging in parts of Mumbai. According to a report of private weather forecast Skymet, rains are expected to continue in Mumbai for at least another 2-3 hours. Slow traffic was reported in areas like Dadar, Worli, Lalbaug, Bandra, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Thane and Dombivali due to downpour. Isolated places in Greater Mumbai, Thane, Palghar and Raigad are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall during the 72 hours commencing from Monday, the IMD predicted.
