Aug 14 Haryana Police today said it has arrested two persons for allegedly killing a former MLA in Delhi’s Najafgarh area two years ago.
Fifteen pistols and 62 live cartridges were recovered from the two accused, who were nabbed last night, a spokesman of the police department said.
During checking on Dwarka Expressway near Daulatabad in Gurgaon district, the police tried to stop a speeding car but its occupants opened fire on them in a bid to flee, the spokesman said.
After a brief chase, the police apprehended the persons travelling in the car, who were identified as Hemant alias Pradhan and Narender alias Mintu, both residents of Delhi.
During interrogation Hemant to killing Bharat Singh, a former MLA, and a witness of Singh’s murder case named Vipin Singh, the spokesman said, adding a bounty of Rs 1 lakh was announced on the accused after the killings.
Bharat Singh was gunned down in southwest Delhi’s Najafgarh in 2015.
The other accused, Narender, was involved in a case of a loot in Gurgaon and abduction of a businessman in Dwarka Sector 23 two months. He also confessed to be an accomplice of Hemant in the killing of the former MLA.
A case has been lodged against the two accused and they were produced in a court today, the spokesman said.
