Indian First Ladies-Lt Col (Retd.) Josycila Farida Rehana- First woman paratrooper of the Indian Army (AMC)

Lt Col Rehana was born in 1940 in Mysore. She graduated MBBS from Mysore Medical College with honours and a gold medal in Surgery. She joined the Indian Army in 1964 responding to a call for mobilization after poor showing in the 1962 war. She joined the elite 60 Parachute Medical Company; the only medical unit to participate in Korean War as peace keepers and qualified as a parachutist in Sep, 1966. She participated in the 1971 War (Op Cactus Lily) in the eastern and western fronts and conducted surgical operations in the frontline with 60 Para. She was awarded the Poorvi and Paschimi Star. The first lady to be awarded the ‘Gen Choudhary’s Trophy’ in 34 MOSC

She was honored with INDIAN WOMEN ACHIEVERS AWARD by the President of India on January 20, 2018 at New Delhi.
