Gandhinagar, Dec 30: Signs of discontent were visible in the newly inducted Vijay Rupani government on Friday as Nitin Patel, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat, did not assume office in the Sachivalaya in Gandhinagar even as others took charge. Notably, Patel has been stripped off three key portfolios – finance, urban development and petroleum recently.
Vijay Rupani was sworn in as Gujarat Chief Minister on December 26. The oath was administered by Governor Om Prakash Kohli. Nitin Patel, deputy chief minister in previous government, retained his position.
Speaking to The Times of India, a top source has reportedly disclosed that Nitin Patel’s displeasure over key portfolios being taken away from him, will be addressed by the top leadership within two days. The source also informed that Patel may offer to quit if his bosses do not keep their promise.
