Lucknow, Dec 8: The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday announced new guidelines for private schools in the state. Among other norms, the government has planned to introduce caps on fees charged by the schools and strict action against those institutions violating them. The Government also said that continuous violation of guidelines can result in the cancellation of the school’s affiliation.
Minister of Food and Civic Supplies, Atul Garg on Friday tweeted the announcement made by Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma earlier today. He said, in a bid to regulate the functioning of the private schools, which are known to charge exorbitant fee from parents, the Government has decided to intervene.
According to the guidelines there will be a division among the fees charged into that which is mandatory and that which would be optional.
Within Mandatory fee comes amount charged for registration and prospectus. This will be a one-time payment only payable at the time of admission. Admission fee will be charged only during new admissions and during promoting students from Class 5 to Class 6, Class 8 to Class 9 and Class 10 to Class 11.
Apart from this, other mandatory charges include examination fees and the academic fee.
