New Delhi, Dec 7: Indian Institute of Technology Delhi successfully placed over 500 students in global and national firms by the end of the fifth placement day. Officials said that more than 25 offers were made by international companies. Leading software firm Microsoft recruited six students on the first day of placement with packages worth over Rs 1 crore.
Hindustan Times reported that companies from Singapore, United States, Hong Kong, Japan, and the Netherlands took part in the placement.
The institute received over 200 offers on the first day including 20 global offers. “However, some students, who bagged international placements on December 1, preferred to opt for other options in India,” the institute told HT.
Intel made the maximum national offers with the company taking on board 30 students. Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) was also one among many other government firms. Almost 80 per cent of the 150 pre-placement offers made to the students were accepted. “Placements had started on a very optimistic note this year. We hope that this trend continues for the rest of the placement season,” HT quoted IN Kar, professor-in-charge of placement as saying.
According to the HT report, the institute did not reveal details of the high value packages as officials believe it might lead to devaluing of offers made by the Indian companies over the international ones. “The first phase of the placements will continue till December 15. Phase Two will commence from January 2018,” the official told HT.
