Update: Egypt mosque attack: At least 235 killed in bomb blast, gunfire during Friday prayers

Militants killed 235 people at a mosque in Egypt’s north Sinai region on Friday, detonating a bomb and shooting at fleeing worshippers and ambulances, the state television reported, quoting the public prosecutor.

It was one of the deadliest attacks in the region’s Islamist insurgency. No group claimed immediate responsibility, but since 2014 Egyptian security forces have battled a stubborn Islamic State affiliate in the north of the mainly desert Sinai, where militants have killed hundreds of police and soldiers.

Auckland-bound man held with bullets at Delhi airport

New Delhi, Nov 24  An Auckland-bound passenger has been apprehended at the Delhi airport for allegedly carrying three live bullets in his bag, official sources said today.

The man, identified as Baljit S, was going through security checks at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport yesterday when a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detected a bullet-like object in his cabin luggage, they said.

Three live bullets were seized from the man’s bag. He was handed over to the police as he could not produce valid documents for carrying the ammunition, the sources said.

He was travelling to Auckland via Bangkok, they added.

Carrying arms and ammunition on board an aircraft without authorisation is banned.

Campaigning ends for second phase of UP civic polls

Lucknow, Nov 24 (PTI) Campaigning for the second phase of Uttar Pradesh civic elections on November 26 ended in 25 districts, including Varanasi from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a member of Lok Sabha.

State election commissioner S K Agarwal today reviewed poll preparations through video conferencing with district magistrates, district election officers, senior police officers and polling observers.

Over 52 per cent voting was recorded in the first phase on November 22 which covered 24 districts.

After the BJP formed the government in the state with absolute majority in March, this will be the first battle of ballot that will test the popularity of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

IBPS RRB Officer Scale I, II, III Results 2017 Announced

New Delhi, Nov 24: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has declared main/ single exam results of the Reserved Rural Banks (RRB) officer scale I, II and III. The candidates can check their result till November 29. The result for the candidates who appeared for the exam is available on the official website – ibps.in. The main exam was held in November.

Candidates will be able to check the marks for the RRB Officer Scale I main exam and RRB Officer Scale-II and III single examination 2017 later.

Here’s how to check IBPS RRB results 2017:

  • Go to the official website – ibps.in
  • On the homepage, click on ticker ‘IBPS RRB results 2017’ flashing towards the top of the page
  • A new page will open displaying links for all three results
  • Click the relevant link
  • A new page will open
  • Fill registration number, password and security code
  • Check your results and if needed, take a print out

The candidates who qualify the main exam for officer scale would be called in for an interview.

ACB chief Meena transferred to Mizoram

New Delhi, Nov 24 (PTI) Delhi’s Anti-Corruption Branch chief Mukesh Kumar Meena, who was investigating sensitive cases pertaining to scams related to the Delhi government, was today transferred to Mizoram, an official order said.

As per the order of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Meena, a 1989-batch IPS officer, was transferred to Mizoram with immediate effect.

He was appointed to the ACB in 2015, a move that had led to a tussle between the then Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The ACB was investigating the Public Works Department (PWD) scam, in which one of the FIRs was registered against a firm, belonging to Kejriwal’s late relative Surender Kumar Bansal, figures.

The ACB was also probing an alleged recruitment scam in the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) and an alleged Rs 400 crore water tanker scam into the irregularities in procuring 385 stainless steel water tankers by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) during the Congress’ rule.

In July, Meena was relieved from the Delhi Police and appointed as the special commissioner of police, Anti- Corruption Branch.

Despite being promoted to the rank of a special commissioner, Meena was looking after the charge of joint commissioner of police, New Delhi range.

He was relieved from the charge and appointed as the special commissioner, ACB.

 

AAP govt will organise more job fairs: Gopal Rai

New Delhi, Nov 24 The AAP government will organise more job fairs in coming days to ensure employment for youths in the city, Delhi minister Gopal Rai said today.

Addressing a gathering here, the minister said that industries and employment generation have been affected due to demonetisation and the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

At the event, the employment minister felicitated representatives of companies that participated in a job fair organised by the AAP government earlier this month.

“The Delhi government will organise more job affairs in future in coordination with companies. The government is committed to provide employment to youths,” Rai said.

An official said that more than 8,000 candidates were offered jobs during the two-day job fair earlier this month.

Global Crude oil price of Indian Basket was US$ 61.57 per bbl on 23.11.2017

The international crude oil price of Indian Basket as computed/published today by Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC) under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was US$ 61.57 per barrel (bbl) on 23.11.2017. This was higher than the price of US$ 61.54 per bbl on previous publishing day of 22.11.2017.

In rupee terms, the price of Indian Basket increased to Rs 3989.55 per bbl on 23.11.2017 as compared to Rs. 3984.75 per bbl on 22.11.2017. Rupee closed weaker at Rs. 64.79 per US$ on 23.11.2017 as compared to 65.75 per US$ on 22.11.2017. The table below gives details in this regard:
