After Microsoft and Apple, Alibaba is joining the big boy league of personal home speakers. Alibaba Group is reportedly working on its own home speaker, which is similar to the Amazon Echo. For that matter, a Reuters report claims that the Chinese company may just reveal the device by next week.
However, the report also says, that the Alibaba home speaker would only cater to the China audience, with the sole language of command and communication for the product being Mandarin.
While Amazon Echo was the debut home speaker in the industry, the latest to join the league is Apple’s HomePod. At its annual developers conference, WWDC 2017, the California tech giant unveiled the assistant speaker or rather “musicologist” as Apple likes to call it. Despite the announcement, the Apple HomePod will not start shipping before the end of this year. As revealed by Apple, the home speaker will initially be available only in the US, UK and Australia starting December. In the US it will retail for $349 (approximately Rs 22,500). The device will be available in white and space grey colors.
