Mary Kom again proved that she is the best women boxer lived in the country.
Today she won her sixth gold medal in women world’s boxing championship.
She defeated Ukraine’s Hannah Okhota in an unanimous 5-0 decision in the 48kg clash.
She has won earlier in the year 2006 In front of the home crowd.
After winning she said to the media that “I want to dedicate this win to my country”
“I am a little bit emotional. There is no (48kg) Weight category in the Olympic Games. Because of your love and support, I feel I will be able to qualify for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Thank you for your love and support. I don’t have anything to give except for a gold in the country.I know it will be difficult for me to win a gold in Tokyo as I will have to fight in 51kg category” she added.
Earlier this year she had already defeated Hannah Okhota in Silesian Boxing Championship in Poland.
Now she has 6 gold medals and a silver which equals the men’s six time world champion Felix Savon in boxing world championships history.
She now leaves behind Katie Taylor an Irish Boxer who have five golds and a bronze to her name.
Mary Kom have been making the whole country proud for many times now. A biopic of her had also been made which is loved by the audience.
