Major PriyaJhingan is the first woman to join the Indian Army in 1992. She hails from Shimla and she had the courage to write to the Chief of Army Staff to induct women into the Indian Army back in 1988. She joined Officers Training Academy, Chennai in September 1992. A silver medallist she was commissioned into the Judge Advocates General Department on 06 March 1993. Priya is an experienced trek leader and a qualified skier too.
She was honored with INDIAN WOMEN ACHIEVERS AWARD by the President of India on January, 20, 2018 at New Delhi
