Jadavpur University: Students Protest Against Mamata Banerjee Government’s Bill Which Dissolves Students’ Unions

Kolkata, Jan 16: Students of the Jadavpur University in Kolkata on Tuesday protested against a West Bengal government bill which dissolves all the students’ unions. The students have been demanding immediate revocation of the bill, passed in the West Bengal assembly in February 2017.

The students protested in front of the Aurobindo Bhavan of the university. The protesting students also included members of Arts Faculty Students Union (AFSU) and Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students Union (FETSU) .

A spokesperson of AFSU said,” The bill will turn the democratically elected students unions redundant and vest all authorities on the university executive council, which cannot be allowed under any circumstances.”
