My ancestors chose to remain in India over England : Female protester at Shaheen Bagh

New Delhi (14/01/2020): Releasing that it’s the responsibility of police to manage traffic, Delhi High Court today disposed of an application seeking directions on the removal of barricades from Shaheen Bagh-Kalindi Kunj stretch, which has been closed since 15 December due to ongoing protests against the recently imposed Citizenship Amendment Act, NRC and NPR.

Ten News while at the protest happening at Shaheen Bagh, came across a lady who shared some information about her past which somehow proved her family’s patriotism for India.
She said, “My great-grandfather invited my grandfather and his family to shift in England and get your identity for this country. But, my grandfather said, ‘I am proud to be an Indian and I won’t change my nation just for some better lifestyle’.

Let us also inform you that on Monday, the High Court agreed to hear a PIL seeking to open Kalindi Kunj-Shaheen Bagh stretch.

The petition, filed by activist Amit Sahni, said the road closure is “causing huge inconvenience/hardship to lakhs of commuters every day and they are compelled to take different routes for last one month”.
