‘Plane is Covered by Hijackers’: Jet Airways Flight Diverted to Ahmedabad After Security Scare

New Delhi, October 30: A Delhi-bound Jet Airways flight was diverted to Ahmedabad for “security reasons”. Security agencies said flight 9W339 was diverted to Ahmedabad after a threatening note was recovered from the toilet.

“The aircraft is covered by hijackers, should not land in Delhi. It should be flown straight to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK),” the note read, the security agencies said.

The  aircraft took off from Mumbai at 2:55 AM and landed at Ahmedabad airport around 3:45 AM. A security personnel at Ahmedabad airport said the flight was diverted as there was a specific threat call.

“The flight was diverted following declaration of emergency as per established security procedures. The flight was diverted due to detection of an onboard security threat,” Jet Airways said in a statement.

The aircraft was parked at a remote bay at Ahmedabad airport. All 115 passengers and seven crew members were safely deplaned, said Jet Airways.
