Screening Committee members of Delhi for the Lok Sabha elections hold separate discussions with senior leaders

NEW DELHI, February 5, 2024—In connection with the preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, under the leadership of  president Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely, has been taking one decision after another, and a meeting of the Screening Committee was held at the DPCC office, Rajiv Bhawan today,  to intensify  the selection process of the Congress candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. Those who attended the meeting included Screening Committee chairperson and MP Rajni Patil, members Sardar Pargat Singh and Krishna Allavaru. The meeting was also attended by the senior leaders of the party, ex-MPs, former Ministers and ex-MLAs.

Shri Arvinder Singh Lovely said that Delhi Congress was not only strengthening the party at the booth-level, but was also making many key appointments, and the appointment of a new president of the Delhi Pradesh Mahila Congress was in this connection. Shri Lovely said that the party was holding extensive campaigns to associate youth, women and people from all sections of society with the Congress party. He appealed to the party workers and leaders to work round-the-clock to strengthen the party in their respective areas. He said that it was the Congress party’s aim to inflict a crushing defeat on the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections, as Congress was waging a determined fight to protect democracy and the Constitution in the country. Shri Lovely said that Delhi Congress will fully honour Alliance commitments, but the party will continue the process of selecting its candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

AICC In-charge of Delhi Shri Deepak Babria, addressing the meeting, said that Congress party was working towards strengthening the India Alliance partnership. He said that constructive discussions were also being held in Delhi with the India Alliance partners, but the party was also woking towards fighting the Lok Sabha elections with all its might whether the India Alliance collaboration happens or does not happen. He appealed to everyone to make direct interaction with the common people, and besides popularizing the programmes and policies of the party, people should also be reminded about the 15-year development-oriented governance of the Delhi Government.

Senior leader and ex-MLA Shri Mukesh Sharma said that   the Screening Committee, headed by Rajni Patil and the other two members, held separate meetings with prospective candidates from Delhi from 12 noon to late in the evening, to find out the party’s prospects in Delhi. They also held discussions with the District presidents to get their feedback. Shri Sharma said that the party has also sought suggestions from the Congress workers and the common people regarding suitable candidates for the Lok Sabha elections, and taking all these aspects into account, Congress will make the final choice of the most suitable and powerful candidates for the Lok Sabha elections at the earliest.
