करम किए जा फल की इच्छा मत कर रे इंसान ,
जैसे करम करम करोगे वैसे फल देगा भगवान

Here just assume that ‘Bhagwaan’ is employer be it from any domain or profession of medical , law , journalism , CA etc ..

And the advise is being given to the ‘aspiring professional’ from any field of career .

Let me talk about aspiring criminal legal professionals but the situation and the issues facing all
types of Professiobals . These days asking for criminal Advocates, has become a crime in itself because no one from the new breed of Advocates wants to pursue this branch of law.

Everyone is behind, Corporate, IPR and et all. However, recently I made an attempt to find some by advertising here.

In the job description, I clearly mentioned I need dedicated and hardworking lawyers with very practical approach.

In response I got over 80 applications all asking for my contact number to call me. I think it was the best exmelification of their lacking of practicle approach.

A few others who were smart enough to find my contact number and reach out to me, asked me timing and salaries in WhatsApp messages.

A few wanted to be paid extra for taking up assignments on Sunday and all this list of demands, even before they are shortlisted for interviews.

We often find people who wants to move to Delhi but only after being selected and I tell them why they should be preferred over a Delhi based candidate who atleast is better aware of places, addresses and court’s location and Delhi culture and ethos.
A few want to be paid because they have pressing EMIs of educational loans, house rent etc. I understand but does client pay us because we have to pay office rents, salaries etc or they pay us for our ability to solve their problems 🤔.

I think every one is paid for their ability and not for their needs. Law is one such area where in addition to knowledge ability to offer solution or practical approach is much in demand and probably because of this court clerks are paid higher then interns and juniors.

Yesterday at Delhi High Court I met couple of juniors who were in hurry to leave the court, while the senior counsel was in midst of closing the matter.

Another Junior, who came to attend the case in absence of main counsel was neither carrying the case file nor was aware of matter 🙄.

The day a junior becomes responsible for his senior conduct he becomes a senior 😳.
I shout every day on my juniors that your job is not to carry files but read the file and case briefs and go to court thinking that you are the main counsel. Isn’t it to be paid well one needs to perform well.

Some wants to straight away argue the case rather focusing on bringing the meat to do research, drafting and filling.

In reply to questions like what is your typing speed and other IT skills often the reply is, Sir I never checked it. ✔️

After all this still you think the employer should check your CV ?

Now, if you have what it takes to be a criminal lawyer do get in touch or else share this criminal piece to some budding criminal lawyer who wants to make it big.

May the aspiring professionals can adopt and spread the takeaways amongst their dear friends in similar situation .
