New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) The station house officer and an assistant sub-inspector at Jaitpur police station here have been sent to district lines for allegedly harassing a colleague who later committed suicide, police said today.
Devendra Singh (55), an assistant sub-inspector attached to Jaitpur police station, was on emergency duty and had got a service revolver issued for work around 6 pm on August 22.
He went to an isolated place on the banks of Yamuna near Kalindi Kunj bridge in south east Delhi and shot himself dead between 6:30 pm to 8 pm that day, a police official said.
Though the police suspected domestic trouble initially, the victim’s family members met senior officers at police headquarters and submitted a copy of the suicide note left behind by Singh at his home.
In the note, Singh alleged that he was being harassed by the SHO of Jaitpur police station and an assistant sub-inspector.
Following the allegations, the two policemen were sent to district lines and an inquiry has been initiated by additional deputy commissioner into the matter, the official added.
