NEW DELHI, January 5, 2023—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress party has unanimously decided to support neither the Aam Aadmi Party nor the BJP in the elections for the posts of Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Leader of the House in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi tomorrow (Friday), as the people of Delhi elected the Congress Councillors to raise the issues affecting them and work for their welfare, and not to fulfill the patrician agenda of AAP and BJP. He said that Congress Councillors will walk out of the House before voting.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Congress will fight to protect the interest of the people as its mandate was not to support the anti-people policies of the AAP and BJP.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that through secret ballot, Congress selected the following three Councillors for the leadership of the party in the MCD:
- Leader of the Congress in MCD: Ms.Nazia Danish
- Dy. Leader of the Congress in MCD: Smt. Sheetal
- Chief Whip of the Congress in MCD: Smt. Shagufta Chaudhary
