IMA Cautions on Impending Covid Outbreak Again

In continuation of the Advisory on Impending COVID Outbreak issued on 22nd December 2022, Indian Medical Association reiterates its appeal to the general public as well as the Medical Practitioners to upscale the precautionary measures and preparedness.
As per the available reports, the COVID cases are steeply increasing in alarming proportion in different countries. In India, the surge in the cases is comparatively less alarming. As seen in past two years, the COVID cases may suddenly erupt if we are not adopting COVID appropriate behavior.
Indian Medical Association therefore advises the general public:
1. To follow COVID appropriate behaviour like Wearing Face Masks in public places and closed congregations and crowded places, maintain social distancing and regular hand hygiene.
2. Get your full dose of COVID vaccination including precautionary dose at the earliest.
3. Follow the government advisory issued from time to time.
4. Do not panic due to the rumours spread through social media and unauthorised channels.
5. Consult your doctor in case of any symptoms like Fever, Sour Throat, and Cough etc. Get
yourself tested from the home testing kits or from nearest healthcare facility.
6. Avoid unnecessary travels including international travel.
Indian Medical Association also appeals to all the Hospitals and Healthcare Establishments to augment their preparedness to combat COVID outbreak in their areas by identifying sufficient manpower, materials including medicines, oxygen and ambulance services. The hospitals may also conduct mock drills to ensure their preparedness during this cooling period.
Indian Medical Association whole heartedly appreciates the initiative taken by our Hon’ble Health Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia to interact with the senior doctors from various states wherein the National President of IMA along with large number of its leaders and members actively participated. The suggestions given by most of the doctors were well appreciated by the Hon’ble Minister and he assured that the Ministry is fully prepared to manage the impending COVID outbreak. He also assured that the Government is making all out efforts to make available the COVID Vaccines including the newly invented Nasal Vaccine.
Finally, Indian Medical Association cautions the general public not to panic unnecessarily and remain alert and follow the directives issued from the Government from time to time. In case of any doubts, public is advised to consult their doctor.
