Gorakhpur, Aug 13: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath addressed the media on Sunday after visiting Gorakhpur’s Baba Raghav Das Medical College hospital, where the death toll reached over 70 following as 11 more succumbed to encephalitis, and claimed those found guilty won’t be spared. “Not just in Gorakhpur but across Uttar Pradesh, if any death is caused due to the negligence of the hospital authorities, the government will take strong action against those responsible,” an emotional Adityanath said. He also said that a thorough probe into the tragedy is the need of the hour.
Asserting that the Centre stands with the state government, Adityanath said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is very concerned and hence, has sent Union Health Minister JP Nadda to take the stock of the situation.
“The Centre has also sent a team of doctors from Delhi to shoulder the responsibility of local doctors. This was my fourth visit to the BRD medical college after becoming the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. Our campaign against encephalitis has been running for quite some time,” he added.
The Chief Minister also claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government is constantly in touch with all the authorities, seeking a solution to the menace caused by encephalitis.
