New Delhi, August 10: The rift in the Janata Dal United is widening and the party can crack the whip on senior party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sharad Yadav. He might be expelled from the party. According to sources, JD(U) can take disciplinary action against Yadav.
The cracks started appearing in the JD(U) after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar broke away from the Mahagathbandhan and joined hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party to form the JD(U)-BJP government in the state. Starting from today, Yadav will begin his three-day “Jan Samvad”, or mass contact programme in 10 districts of Bihar and said that he will interact with the people to “seek a way out”.
The JD(U) has distanced itself from the meeting and has called it a personal initiative. “Sharad Yadav’s visit to Bihar is his personal initiative. The JD-U has nothing to do with it,” JD(U) state President Vashisht Narain Singh said.
