umbai, Aug 9: A driver of the app-based cab service provider Ola has been arrested by the Mumbai police on Wednesday on the complaint of a woman passenger. According to reports, Arun Tiwari was nabbed by the police after the 30-year-old woman from Ghaziabad, who was in Mumbai for an interview, complained that he was masturbating in the car.
Reportedly, the woman booked a shared Ola cab from Andheri to Parel. When the cab reached SK Bole Marg at Shivaji Park she suddenly noticed that the cab had stopped, soon after which she allegedly noticed the driver opening his pant zip and flashing her. The woman, in a shocked state, got down from the taxi and ran towards the nearest police station where an offence under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code was registered against the driver for purportedly outraging modesty of the woman.
In a similar case, last year in September, an Ola driver and two of his friends were arrested for harassing a woman who was travelling alone in the cab in Chennai. Reportedly, she had hired the cab from Injambakkam to Anna Nagar. A case was registered under section 4 of Women Harassment Act and all three were nabbed by the police.
