New Delhi (25/09/2022): All Indians know how Yudhisthir refused to enter heaven without the dog who had accompanied him throughout his difficult journey.

Today more than 40 animal
Organisations and hundreds of citizens from all across Delhi/ NCR and even Punjab braved the pouring rain to show solidarity with that same best friend.

In a message, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi said “Animal welfare needs to become a strong confident community. I am happy that so many have come here today to show the power of compassion.”

She further added
“There has never been a time when animals needed us more.
We need to combat human greed, cruelty, neglect, apathy, ignorance and intolerance.
Arm yourselves with courage, knowledge, compassion and common sense. The law protects animals. Become the means for that protection. Learn the laws and use them. Stand up for animals, speak for them and fight for their rights. You are part of our army for animals. God bless each one of you for caring.”

Dogs protect our homes, fight alongside our forces, guide the blind, find the lost, rescue the trapped, comfort the lonely, befriend the poor, assist the elderly and amuse the young. They give us love ,loyalty and service in return for nothing more than a little kindness.

The recent propaganda that has blown a few incidents out of proportion to target an entire species, ~ is shocking, and its consequences truly tragic. Thousands of harmless, healthy dogs have been massacred. Many others have been abandoned. For no fault of their own, dogs have lost their lives, their homes, their good standing. Overnight these friendly animals are being falsely depicted as monsters.

“ Look how it’s been raining these last few days — it’s as if
the heavens themselves are weeping at the injustice that we are gathered here to protest” pointed out Ambika Shukla, trustee PFA.
She called for an end to
the rumours, the hype, and fearmongering. “ Let’s build empathy, be rational, and respond reasonably. “
Other speakers included lawyers, vets, teachers and animal welfarists.

Actor, Sonam Kapoor sent in a message of support appealing to Indians to adopt Indies. Sharing the message Sonam Kapoor said “Dogs have always been a part of our homes and our hearts. How can anyone show them hate and hostility when they give us nothing but love and loyalty?

I appeal to all Indians to adopt Indies from the street or a shelter and truly demonstrate being vocal for local. Indies have the speed of greyhounds, the intelligence of Alsatians, the tenacity of terriers!
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustaani! ”

Be kind to animals. They are more than friends,They are family!

The gathering laid flowers at a memorial to all animals who had lost their lives to human cruelty.

Actor Divya Seth also shared a support message ” Every family and every child deserves a dog because they are the most loving companions.”

In a shock move, an activist dramatically flung a can of red paint over a map of Kerala to chants of ‘Shame on Kerala’ from the assembly.

KJ Alphons, MP from Kerala and former Union Minister also questions how any human being can perpetrate the kind of cruelty that is hapoening in Kerala. He appealed to all Keralites to end the killing, and start feeding and looking after street dogs”Happy dogs do not bite.”

India is the only country in the world whose consttution includes kindness to animals. Let all Indians be reminded to uphold their Dharma and, like Yudhishthir, reciprocate the loyalty of our steadfast companion and most faithful Friend.
