Monsoon Session: SP MP Naresh Agrawal Demands Salary Hike, Says Our Secretaries Earn More than us
New Delhi, July 19: The Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Agrawal on Wednesday demanded a salary hike for the MPs at Rajya Sabha during proceedings of the Monsoon Session of Parliament. “Our salary is lesser than our secretaries,” he said.
Noteworthy, the salaries and the allowances of the members are government by the Salary, Allowances and Pension of Members of Parliament Act, 1954. Each member of the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha is entitled to receive a salary of Rs 50,000 per month.
Apart from this, the MPs also get a daily allowance of Rs 2,000 per day for each day of residence on duty. It is paid only when a member signs the register maintained for the purpose. There is also a Rs 45,000 constituency allowance which is given per month.
