Auto, Taxi Strike in Delhi on July 26, All You Need to Know
New Delhi, July 13: Brace for a difficult 72 hours as taxis and auto-rickshaws won’t ply on the road for three days from July 26. The taxi and auto unions in Delhi have decided to go on a strike as they are miffed with the policies of the state and Central governments. Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh’s Delhi unit held a meeting on Wednesday and took a decision to go on a strike. Drivers in rural areas will also participate in the strike.
A senior official of the Bharatiya Majdoor Sangh told Amar Ujala that the Central and State governments are hell-bent on ending employment for auto and taxi drivers. Fee for the inspection of CNG cylinders used to be Rs 900-Rs1000. Now it is Rs 2300. That’s why they are going on a strike.
The official further said that the government is not issuing 10,000 permits. Taxis of NCR are operating in Delhi and the government is not taking any action against them. But when Delhi’s taxis are going to Haryana, taxes are being charged. The strike would be for 72 hours.
