217 distressed diseased persons ( cancer/ liver cirosis/ leukemia/kidney/neuro patients, sos for mortal remains transportation reached out sos to Helping Hands for desperate financial help last year.
Following are the Guidelines for seeking financial help from appropriate authorities, CBOs, concession from hospitals.
1. May request local MLA/MP for financial assistance from CM/ PM Relief Fund. Need to submit the documents (approximate estimate cost of treatment by doctor, addhar card etc well in advance ).
2. Even local ZPM/Municipal councilor can be approached if needed for reaching out to local MLA/ MP for immediate medical assistance for such deadly diseases when in dire need. On our guidance, many poor needy patients have availed the money from such Fund.
3. If the patient is facing problems in reaching out to their local MLA/ MP, than, the patient may get recommendation from local based recognized NGO or any other socio religious or even youth organizations in their area in their official pad to check the veracity of their cases.
As many drug addicts reached out to us with photoshoped photos of theirs seeking financial help, on verification, we found them to be fake .
4. Many patients rush to cities just on mere recommendations from doctors from NE states without proper preparations like accommodation, blood donors arrangement, without sufficient money, many reach out in last minute emergency situations to Helping Hands even for accommodation, blood donors, transportation etc from Helping Hands .
5. Patients can also avail the services of their state’s Bhavan official, incharge for medical related cases and take their guidance from respective Bhavans in Delhi and other cities.
These officials are designated officially by Bhavans to help the needy patients coming to cities.
6. Patients before rushing to cities should check doubly the confirmed availability of seat for admission in hospital, accommodation for relatives, transportation plan from Airport to hospital, cost of the treatment, icu room rent, fooding, approximate duration for treatment, arrangement of blood donors, back up plan for incase of death etc.
( Helping Hands Blood Bank at Delhi is regularly bombarded with flood gate of requests for blood for such dreaded afflicted patients, Helping Hands blood Bank is for an emergency blood requirements that too for NE people working in lowly paid jobs in private sectors, students etc not for such dreaded diseases patients coming for treatment,who need huge quantity of blood daily.
– Last night, one Assam patient reached Delhi for Noida hospital, when they reached there, nothing was arranged, hospital gave cold response, even bed was not arranged, had to accommodate them at midnight at Police guest house and shift the patient at South Delhi hospital with Helping Hands Volunteers. Even had to sent vehicle by me late night. Such painful episodes of medical emergencies are increasing day by day.
– It’s heart breaking feeling when hapless poor patient reached out me as last hope and I can’t do much .
