Petrol Price Today Crosses Rs 100-per-Litre Mark in Delhi, Kolkata, Highest Ever; CHECK Fuel Rates in Your City

 

New Delhi: After a gap of one day, petrol and diesel prices witnessed a hike once again on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. The fuel prices touched a fresh record high across the country, with petrol prices crossing the Rs 100 per litre mark in the national capital and Kolkata. According to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, petrol price was increased by 35 paise per litre and diesel by 23 paise a litre in the national capital.

Rates have been increased across the country and differ from state to state depending on the incidence of value-added tax. Delhi is the last of the metro cities to see petrol rising above the Rs 100-a-litre mark. Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune already have prices above that mark.

With today’s revision to the prices, in Delhi, petrol now costs Rs 100.21 a litre, and diesel is priced at Rs 89.53 per litre. Meanwhile, in Kolkata, the price of petrol is fixed at Rs 100.23 per litre. The price of petrol in Mumbai has also jumped to an all-time high with Rs 106.25 per litre. This is a sharp increase of 33 paise from the previous price point. In Bangalore, the price of petrol has risen to Rs 103.56 per litre, which is a 36 paise increase. The price of petrol in Chennai was hiked by 31 paise in the metro and now it costs Rs 101.06 per litre.

On July 7, at least 16 states and Union Territories witnessed their fuel pump rates crossing the Rs 100-a-litre mark. These states and Union Territories include – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar, Punjab, Ladakh, Sikkim, Jammu and Kashmir and Odisha.
