Are Agitating people on borders of capital real farmers?

Authored by: Prof. Balwant Singh Rajput ‌(former) Vice- Chancellor & ‌Chairman, UP State Council for Higher Education

I am son of a farmer who participated in quit India movement in 1942 in the struggle for the independence of our country and refused to accept any national aid after the independence. I also struggled to save the democracy during the black period of emergency imposed in 1975 by Indira Gandhi and had to spend six months in jail of Karnal from July to Dec. 1975 when I was in teaching faculty of Kurukshetra University and refused to accept any aid from government when emergency was over. I never imagined our farmers to behave in the manner which was demonstrated in the capital of the country on the republic day i.e. 26th Jan. Their acts at Redfort and Pragati Maidan were nothing but dirtiest demonstration of national shame, anti-national attitude and support of agenda of Pakistan and Khalistani terrorism. No Indian farmer can approve such a conspiracy against the nation and that too on the republic day. The so called self styled leaders of various organisations of farmers who structured such anti-national demonstrations on republic day are the dirty blots on the names of farmers.

‌Unlawful continuous blocking of roads of entry into Delhi at several sites, the criminal activities like rape, murders, anti- national slogans, misbehaving with residents, particularly women of the villages situated near the places of these unlawful dharnas and attacking the ministers and their party workers on their entry in Delhi are the shameful acts which no true farmer will approve. Most of these self-styled, so called leaders of farmers have nothing to do with farming and agriculture and many of them do not cultivate in any field. Unlawfully erecting the residential structures on roads near dharnas and furnishing them with luxuries like air conditioners etc, can not be the act of farmers.

‌These anti- social and anti-national people have no following among farmers as demonstrated by the recent results of UP Panchayat elections. Their behavior like bullies, Mafias and Gundas can not be accepted or approved by true farmers of India.

‌I strongly condemn them all and appeal to the national government at center to punish these rascals severely.

Some disgruntled leaders of few political parties which have lost every political ground in last two elections for parliament and the recent Panchayat elections of UP, must feel ashamed in supporting such culprits of Nation.
