Krishnakala Foundation suggests measures to help artists survive during Covid times

The Covid pandemic has affected every strata of the society, not only on the healthcare level but also on the level of finances. Amid a ban on large physical gatherings across the country, one of the community that has suffered the most on the financial level are of the artists as they have lost their major source of income by not able to perform in front of a audience in a physical gathering.

To contemplate on aiding artists during these tough times, Krishnakala Foundation for Art and Education in collaboration with Ten News organized a webinar on Sunday.

Some of the suggestions that were shared by the panelists are as follows:

1. Guru Nandini suggested Artists to be given a stage to showcase their talent and suitable honorarium to be paid for the same.
2. Mr. Umesh Sharma suggested that the artists to be registered first by the ministry at all levels such as performing artist. Teachers or students in the field of performing arts must be enrolled within the ministry.
3. Mir Beg, ex television and AIR anchor, suggested that artists must have a forum to voice their opinion.
4. Mr. Gulzar Bhatt from J & K assured that once the pandemic is over, he in collaboration with the local governing body and state heads can help create paid programs in the valley region.
6.Mr. Dharmveer who belongs to the Delhi University, will coordinate with all levels of artists to come and create a forum. He will also extend financial help and donation from his side to the Foundation.
7. Kathak exponent Abhinanyu Lal suggested to bring the help in the supporting artists group and he also extended financial support to the Foundation.
8. The Team Head and Kathak Artist Mrs. Anu Sinha expressed her views about creating artists forum and registering them with the Ministry.
The Foundation has already donated handsome amount towards the supporting artists mission.
9. Ten News Founder Mr. Gajanan Mali suggested the foundation to connect with govt at state and district levels and to look towards creating help for the artists community. He also suggested collaboration with private organizations for performance.
10. The forum also witnessed Kathak exponent Jaya Priyadarshini extending her wishes to support the Artists by paying remunerations for the performing Artist.
