CM Arvind Kejriwal directs all officials to meet public daily
New Delhi, May 24, 2017: In a move that will bridge the gap between the people of Delhi and the officers working for them, the Chief Minister of Delhi, Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, has directed all officers except field staff, to meet the public without appointment between 10-11 am on weekdays.
This decision was announced by the Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Manish Sisodia, at a press meet on Wednesday at the Delhi Secretariat. The government is planning to implement the new system from June 1. Mr. Sisodia said that the decision is in response to the feedback from different quarters of Delhi and a need to have a better grievance redressal system for the people of Delhi. “We have directed the Chief Secretary to ensure no in-office meeting is scheduled between 10-11 am and officers are available for interaction with the public,” Mr Sisodia said.
The Chief Secretary has also been directed to issue a phone number where public can complain if any official is found unavailable between the timing fixed for meeting with the people.
Mr Sisodia said that exemption would only be granted if an official is on leave (Medical or otherwise). In addition, the Deputy Chief Minister also reiterated that all the ministers, including the Chief Minister himself, would meet the public without appointment on all weekdays between 10 am to 11 am.
