This year the event will be divided into two venues. The Auto Expo -Component Show will be happening at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and the Auto Expo – The Motor Show is set to be hosted in India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. A host of automotive giants will be making an appearance at the Auto Expo 2020. EVs and smart car technology will be the highlights at the event. To help prioritize which pavilions to visit, here’s a list of brands and vehicles that should be on your ‘must watch’ list.
Maruti Suzuki
Starting with the biggest share holder in the Indian automobile market, Maruti Suzuki will be betting big at the Auto Expo. The brand is expected to showcase 17 cars. The showstopper will be a small electric SUV, Futuro-E which will be aiming to rival the likes of Nexon EV.
Maruti Suzuki will also unveil the Brezza facelift at the Auto Expo. This will be the first update after the car was launched in 2016. The compact SUV will also get a much anticipated petrol engine. Suzuki Jimny has been elusive to Indian buyers but interested visitors get a chance to lay eyes on the mini road warrior at the Auto Expo. However, the company will reveal Jimny on 8 February. Maruti Suzuki will also showcase the new Swift hybrid.
Under the Nexa line-up, the S-cross and Ignis will be getting new updates. While the Ignis will just receive a mild facelift, the S-cross will get an all new petrol engine. Maruti is also expected to reveal an all-new Nexa version of the Wagon R. The car has been codenamed XL5 and has been spotted during test runs on Indian roads.
Hyundai
Hyundai Creta will get its first major upgrade since its launch. The car that will be revealed is expected to be based on the China-speced x25. Creta will get an all new exterior and a host of new features to rival new entrants in the compact SUV segment.
Hyundai Verna will get a facelift and a host of new BSVI compliant engines. The car is expected to launch in March.
The Grand i10 Nios will be another highlight at Hyundai’s pavilion. The new hot hatch will feature a 1-litre turbo engine that is expected to produce 100PS power.
Tata Motors
Coming to the stables of Tata, the Indian brand will launch Gravitas, a seven-seater version of the Tata Harrier. The car will be slightly longer than the Harrier to accommodate the third row of seats. The Harrier will also get a feature update at the Auto Expo 2020.
In the micro-SUV segment, Tata will be revealing the production version of Tata H2X. The car will be smaller than the Nexon and will be targeting the likes of Renault Kwid.
Mahindra
Moving to another Indian manufacturer, Mahindra will be flaunting a grand line-up of nearly 80 cars at the Auto Expo. The company will be showcasing its commitment to electric powertrains at the Auto Expo.
We will get a sneak peek at the next generation of XUV 500 in the form of a concept EV. The XUV 300 will also get an electric upgrade to rival the likes of Tata Nexon EV.
Following the trend, there will be an eKUV 100 at the Mahindra pavilion. The company is aiming to make it one of the most affordable EVs in the country.
Renault
Renault will also showcase an interesting line-up of electric vehicles including the Kwid Electric. Renault’s identical offering in China goes by the name K-ZE and offers a range of almost 270 kms. The French company is also expected to reveal a level-4 self driving car, Symbioz at the Auto Expo.
Kia
Kia is off to an impressive start in the Indian market and the company plans to extend its lineup this year. The company will be launching its Innova Crysta rival Kia Carnival. The car boasts of multiple seating configurations as well as luxury first-in-segment features.
Kia will also reveal the pre-production model of its sub-4 meter SUV at the Auto Expo. It will also capitalize on the attention that Seltos has received so far by showcasing the X-Line Concept cars.
Great Wall Motors (GWM)
The Chinese company, Great Wall Motors will be stepping into the Indian market with its HAVAL line-up. The mid-size SUV segment will get further options in the form of Haval F7. GWM will also reveal its popular electric small car Ora R1 at the Auto Expo. It boasts an incredible range of around 300kms.
MG
MG will also go big at the Auto Expo this year. The company will be revealing the six-seater version of the MG Hector which is expected to be launched in the second quarter of this year.
MG Gloster will be a rival to the likes of Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The car is expected to launch this year. In the MPV segment, MG will be revealing the MG G10 which will go against Innova Crysta and the upcoming Kia Carnival.
