Sunny Deol hits miss to Parliament sessions, absent for 28 Out Of 37 Working Days

Actor turned politician, Sunny Deol was unable to attend the Lok Sabha sessions that are ongoing. He couldn’t be able to maintain his attendance record in the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha and missed for almost 28 days from the house. According to the attendance records, Deol only attended the Parliament session for five continuous days soon after the resumption of the monsoon session but then hit miss to all other days.

The Lok Sabha sessions were conducted for 37 days out of which Deol missed 28 days. In total, the Gurdaspur lawmaker attended nine sessions of Parliament. Deol contested the elections from BJP for the first time and also won the seat. He had defeated sitting MP and Congress candidate Sunil Jakhar by 82,459 votes from Gurdaspur Lok Sabha seat in Punjab. He had joined the BJP on April 23, this year. He has never been associated with politics earlier.

After appointing screenwriter Gurprett Singh Palheri as his aide to co-ordinate with government functionaries on his behalf many discussions and debates took place. Earlier, Deol announced that Palheri will look after the affairs of his constituency on his behalf. According to the close sources o the party, Palheri had also been authorised to take up issues related to Gurdaspur with Deputy Commissioner Vipul Ujwal.

Sunny Deol absent for Lok Sabha sessions

A senior state BJP leader said, ‘Palheri’s appointment is a clear-cut indication that he has been authorised to chair meetings, including review meetings of the Central government-sponsored schemes, on behalf of Deol.’

Recently, Deol made headlines after pulling a heroic act when he rescued a woman from Gurdaspur. The woman was being sold to a Pakistani man after a travel agent lured her to Kuwait on promise of giving her a job. The victim’s family pleaded Sunny Deol during his Kartarpur Corridor visit.

Sunny Deol contested from Gurdaspur for the first time and surprisingly he won the MP seat with highest majority. Though he won, his absence from the Lok Sabha sessions speak a lot and is giving rise to many discussions in the social media platforms.
