Amethi: After Prime Minister Narendra Modi caused a huge row over the weekend over his remarks against former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, a man from Amethi wrote to the Election Commission in blood asking them to direct the PM to refrain from making comments that hurt the sentiments of the public.
The letter in blood was written by a man identified as Manoj Kashyap of Shahgarh in Amethi. In his letter, he claimed that he was ‘traumatised’ by the Prime Minister’s statements against Rajiv Gandhi.
Writing about the former prime minister, he said that he lowered the voting age to 18 years, implemented the Panchayati Raj system and brought in the computer revolution in the country. He wrote that Rajiv Gandhi lives on in the hearts of the people of Amethi and the country.
He even mentioned in his letter that former prime minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee of the BJP had himself praised Rajiv Gandhi in an article. He then said to the people of Amethi anyone making a slanderous remark against the late Rajiv Gandhi is equal to the people who assassinated him.
Kashyap, however, clarified that his letter is not politically motivated and stated that he merely felt emotionally connected to the late leader. His letter was shared by Congress MLC Deepak Singh on Twitter.
