Corruption & crime would be on the rise if opposition comes to power: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar come down heavily on Lalu family

Says, he will continue his fight against black money and corruption despite protests by opposition

Hopes that none of the opposition parties would get the one tenth of the total seats in Lok Sabha

Patna, : Addressing an election rally at Patahi near Muzaffarpur, 80 kms from here on Tuesday morning, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi apprehended return of jungle raj in Bihar if the Grand Alliance was empowered in the Lok Sabha elections. The Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar too attacked Lalu and family on corruption issue.

As the fourth phase of elections concluded on Monday, the two leaders devoted a major part of their speeches on corruption, lawlessness and anarchy during the Lalu-Rabri regime in Bihar.

Modi said that if the opposition comes to power, there will be a rise in corruption and crime. He added that opposition leaders hate him because he is fighting against black money and corruption. The PM also noted that he will continue his fight against black money and corruption despite protests by the opposition.

Muzaffarpur which goes to polls on May 6 had earned a bad name in the recent days because of the escape of the girls from the remand homes and their murders after rape. The case is being monitored by the CBI and trial is going on in Tees Hazari Court of New Delhi.

Prime Minister warned the voters, if they voted for the opposition candidates, kidnapping of girls will increase, girls would be raped and murdered, people will be forced to remain indoors before sun set, girls will not be allowed to move freely on the roads.

Modi said that large-scale migration would take place from the state and there would be corruption and loot in government schemes. “The opposition is having vulture’s evil designs on Bihar”, Modi cautioned the people.

He also attacked the opposition alleging they had divided the society on caste lines. To cover up their crimes, they want a weak government at the Centre. Those who are in jail, those who are on the entrance to jails and those on bail, all are trying to keep a strong and decisive government away from the Centre, he said.

He recalled the charges of corruption against Lalu family and without naming him said they were interested in amassing wealth, investing them on Malls, farm houses. They will have to vomit it out during the second term of the NDA, Modi said.

Claiming there was pro-NDA wave in the Lok Sabha elections, Mlodi said, none of the opposition parties would get the one tenth of the total seats in Lok Sabha enabling them to qualify for the leader of opposition chair. Even in 2014, they failed to get the minimum seats in Lok Sabha to be eligible to become leader of opposition, Modi recalled.

Obviously to win over the OBCs in North Bihar, particularly in Muzaffarpur, Prime Minister said, he had appointed Bhagwan Das Sahni, a local BJP leader as national chairman of the OBC Commission. BJP has given ticket to a member of the boatmen (Nishad) community at Muzaffarpur, a Teli at adjoining Sitamarhi and a Bania at Sheohar, another Lok Sabha constituency close to Muzaffarpur.

Modi asked the people to elect him again – Ek Bar Phir, Modi Sarkar, he roared in his appeal and said he would uproot Naxalism and terrorism during his second term as the PM. He alleged that the opposition was silent on terrorism in its campaign.

Nitish Kumar too appealed to the electorate to re-elect Modi as the Prime Minister and attacked the Pati-Patni government (Lalu-Rabri) in Bihar.
