To mark the international Labour Day on May 1, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) in charge of Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya launched a new initiative for migrant workers and their families, known as One IP two dispensaries initiative.
Till now in India, insured persons (IP) have an option of choosing one dispensary for self and family.
Now onwards, from May 1,2017 Employees Service Insurance Corporation(ESIC) is giving an option to IP to choose two dispensaries, one for self another for family through an employer. This would benefit all IPs but especially migrant workers who are working in other than home state, while their families are living in their native states.
As of now, around 3 crores IPs are covered under ESIC and total number of beneficiaries i.e. IP including their family members is over 12 crores.
