JAMMU: Landslides along the Jammu-Srinagar highway on Tuesday blocked the major traffic artery of the state.
The landslide was triggered by rain in Ramsoo sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
Debris removal operation has started, said a Traffic Department official.
“We are hopeful of restoring the highway for traffic in the afternoon. Intending travelers must not undertake the journey without contacting our control rooms in Jammu and Srinagar,” he added.
The nearly 300-km long road is the lifeline of essential supplies as all of these are routed into the landlocked valley through this highway. (agencies)
